Tre’Davious White to join the Los Angeles RamsSummary:

  • Inked a one-year contract with veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White.
  • The Rams are boosting their defense shortly after Aaron Donald’s retirement.
  • White inked a one-year contract worth up to $10 million.

NFL‘s Los Angeles Rams have added to their defense less than two weeks after the retirement of Aaron Donald.

According to USA TODAY Sports, a person who is familiar with the deal has confirmed that 29-year-old two-times Pro Bowler Tre’Davious White will be inking a one-year contract with the team.

The information was offered on condition of anonymity since they are not authorized to discuss the deal worth $10 million.

White Was Cut by the Buffalo Bills

This offseason, the player who was named a first-team All-Pro in 2019 thanks to his league lead in interceptions had to bid goodbye to the Buffalo Bills.

The news came after White spent seven seasons in upstate New York.

His departure from the Buffalo Bills was part of a strategic move that was necessary to help the team get under the salary cap prior to March 13, which was the start date of the new league year.

White, who had been dealing with a series of injuries in the past three seasons, has played a combined 21 games.

Last year, he suffered a torn Achilles injury that put an end to his season.

The Buffalo Bills drafted the cornerback in the first round of the NFL draft in 2017.

The team ended the 2023 season with the third playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the past four years.

Durability Concerns

The eighth-year cornerback has managed to generate 311 tackles, defend 68 passes and successfully complete 18 interceptions in 82 career games.

This makes him a good fit for the Rams’s defense in terms of a high-reward addition with a low-risk.

The team has already inked signed cornerback Darious Williams and safety Kamren Curl in their attempt to hit the refresh button on their secondary this offseason.

White might start on the opposite side of Williams. He will also play alongside corners Cobie Durant and Tre Tomlinson.

While Tre’Davious White will automatically be the most experienced cornerback in the team’s secondary, there are concerns regarding his durability given the large number of injuries that he has suffered in recent years.
