Jorge Masvidal Summary

  • Jorge Masvidal charged with felony battery charge
  • Masvidal is alleged to have attacked Colby Covington
  • Masvidal says Covington should not have spoken about his kids

Jorge Masvidal is among the top 5 biggest stars in the UFC and the holder of the ‘Bad Mother F—ker’ belt!

Masvidal headlined UFC 272 earlier this March when he took on his former best friend now turned foe Colby Covington.

Masvidal was dominated in that fight as Covington outwrestled him for 25 minutes and won by unanimous decision. Masvidal was bitter with his loss and Covington continued to rub it in on social media constantly posting pictures of his win and antagonizing Masvidal.

When Masvidal lost, he made it clear that the beef with Covington was not over and that he would throw down if he came across Covington. Both fighters train in Miami and it did not take the long to cross paths. Reports suggest that Masvidal attacked Covington outside a restaurant called Papi Steak in Miami and sucker punched him. Masvidal is reported to have broken one of Covington’s teeth in the attack on 21 March close to midnight.

Masvidal then took to Twitter to send a warning without mentioning Covington’s name. He warned him of the consequences of talking about his kids while Masvidal’s manager made reference to a lost tooth!

Masvidal has now been charged with felony battery but the name of the victim has been kept out of the report as the victim decided to invoke Marsy’s Law.

MMA Community Throw Shade At Masvidal

Masvidal is generally quite popular with the MMA community but he is getting a lot of shade on social media. MMA fans believe Masvidal should have settled his beef with Covington in the Octagon as he had 25 minutes to do so legally. Masvidal did not put up a good show during the Main Event as it was pretty much a one sided event where he got dominated throughout the fight.

Masvidal wanting to continue to the fight outside the Octagon and sucker punching Covington is not what fans want to see from the ‘BMF’ title holder! Covington is yet to release a statement on the alleged altercation with Masvidal nor is there any indication if he will drop the charges against Masvidal!
