The third fight was initially scheduled to take place on July 24 but the fight had to be postponed as Fury caught COVID-19. Fury recently admitted that he caught COVID-19 twice and could not train or stick to his diet. Wilder wasn’t happy with the fight being postponed and has accused Fury of faking it.

Wilder has refused to accept his loss to Fury in the first fight and has made a number of allegations. He has fired his old coach who threw in the towel claiming that he had conspired with Fury’s camp and even spiked his water. Wilder has also claimed that Fury had something hid inside his gloves.

Fury has laughed down those allegations and accused Wilder of being mentally weak for not being able to accept defeat and move on.

Fury Not Looking Past Wilder

Fury wasn’t very keen on fighting Wilder the third time after steamrolling him in the second fight. The Gypsy King wanted to fight fellow Brit Anthony Joshua in what would have been the biggest heavyweight fight in decades. However, Wilder used his contract to force the third fight with Fury and as a result, Fury’s camp had to drop all talks with Joshua.

Joshua had to fight Oleksandr Usyk in September and ended up losing the fight and his WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight straps. Joshua triggered his rematch clause and is likely to fight Usyk again in early 2021.

With no possibility of fighting Joshua next, Fury is very clear that he is only focused on Wilder for now and once the fight is over, will weigh his options to decide who he fights next.

Our Prediction

Wilder goes in with a puncher’s chance as he can knock anyone out with his right hand. However, we think the Gypsy King is going to win as he has looked the better fighter in the first two fights. We predict Fury winning against by KO or TKO.
