On a cold night at Lambeau Field, the Philadelphia Eagles edged the Green Bay Packers 10–7 in a low-scoring slugfest that could have major playoff implications.

According to ESPN Analytics, the win boosted Philadelphia’s chances of landing the NFC’s top seed to 33%, while a loss would have dropped them to 12%.

The Eagles’ defense was the story. Their pass rush kept Packers quarterback Jordan Love under pressure all night, holding Green Bay scoreless through three quarters, just the third time that’s happened in Matt LaFleur’s seven seasons as head coach.

Offensively, it wasn’t pretty, but the Eagles did enough. Clinging to a 3–0 lead early in the fourth quarter, Jalen Hurts connected with Saquon Barkley on a swing pass that turned into a 41-yard gain down the sideline.

On the very next play, Hurts found DeVonta Smith for a 36-yard touchdown that ultimately decided the game.

Philadelphia also got an immediate return on a recent trade. Edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, acquired from Miami for a third-round pick, made a strong first impression with seven pressures, two quarterback hits, and six tackles.

He even stuffed Josh Jacobs on fourth-and-one late in the game, forcing a fumble that helped seal the win. “The Eagles have something cooking along the defensive front” wrote ESPN’s Tim McManus, noting Phillips’ impact alongside a now-healthy Nolan Smith Jr.

The one concern for Philly was the offense’s lack of rhythm. Coordinator Kevin Patullo leaned conservative on third down, often running the ball in long-yardage situations.

The Eagles now have 29 three-and-out drives this season, second-most in the NFL behind Denver. Still, at 7–2, they’re sitting in a strong position heading into Sunday’s game against the Lions.

For Green Bay, this was one to forget. The Packers didn’t score until the final six minutes and managed just one touchdown, a six-yard run by Jacobs.

It was one of their worst offensive outings under LaFleur, who leaned heavily on the ground game after losing tight end Tucker Kraft for the season.

Despite another solid defensive effort, the Packers fell to 5–3–1 and dropped from first to third in the NFC North. They’ll try to regroup when they visit the New York Giants next Sunday.
