Kyrie Irving & Kevin Durant Sign With The New York Knicks July 1, 2019 Adrian Sterne https://plus.google.com/u/0/107032931670136448831

There was a lot of trading action taking place over the weekend as some of the top teams in the NBA looked to take advantage of the trading window and sign some of the biggest players in the NBA.

The hottest news last week was that Kevin Durant decided to go become a free agent and there were reports floating around of him joining the New York Knicks.

However, Knicks Chairman James Dolan had concerns about paying Durant $164 million on a 4 year deal given the fact that he is expected to miss the next season due to his injury.

The Nets wasted no time in jumping in and signing Kevin Durant. They also succeeded in getting Kyrie Irving to leave the Boston Celtics and sign a 4 year deal with them for $142 million. Kyrie Irving and KD have a good relationship and they could be a potent force for the Nets with Deandre Jordan also expected to sign with the franchise.

New York Knick fans were very upset to learn that they lost both KD and Kyrie Irving to the Nets. Chairman Dolan received a lot of flak on social media which prompted the Knicks to release an official statement and confirm that they were still looking to sign new players to strengthen the franchise.

The Nets have done really well in putting together a top team and will now a major force to reckon with once KD is fully fit again.

Golden State Warriors Keep Klay Thompson

The Warriors have started the last four seasons as the favourites to win but that will not be the case for the new season. They did their best to retain KD but failed and are now expected to trade Andre Iguodala who will join the Memphis Grizzlies to protect their 2024 first round pick.

The Warriors will reportedly keep Klay Thompson after agreeing to give him a 5 year contract for $190 million. Thompson is recovering from an ACL injury and will partner once again with Steph Curry and D’Angelo Russell who is very close to being signed from the Brooklyn Nets.

All eyes are on Kawhi Leonard who is reportedly in talks with the LA Lakers. The 2019 MVP decided to wait a couple more days to make a final decision on whether he will stay with the Raptors or join LeBron James and the Lakers.
