  • NBPA releases statement on anti-Semitism but does not name Kyrie Irving

The Brooklyn Nets have sadly become an embarrassment for their fans this season due to a number of controversial issues that have impacted the team’s performance this season.

When a team like the Brooklyn Nets that is stocked with exceptional talent such as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving end up with a 2-5 scoreline, it puts pressure on everyone, especially the head coach.

Brooklyn Nets Part Ways With Head Coach Steve Nash

Head coach Steve Nash has been under a lot of pressure even before this season started. The Nets had to deal with the Kevin Durant situation in the off-season because their star player wanted a transfer but was unable to secure one and decided to stay with the Nets rather reluctantly.

Prior to requesting a transfer, reports suggested that Durant was unhappy with Steve Nash and had informed owner Joe Tsai that he needed to fire Nash for him to stay with the Nets. Tsai backed Nash at that time and made it clear that the team comes first before any player.

Durant stayed but it looked like Nash’s days were numbered with the Nets since that time. To make matter worse, Kyrie Irving caused quite a backlash for the Nets when he shared a video link to “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America” that was based on a book that promoted anti-Semitism. After which he responded to criticisms he received with the following tweet –

Steve Nash was struggling to keep the Nets together and get them to perform as a team which reflected in the 2-5 start to the season. The Brooklyn Nets decided that it was in the best interests of everyone for Nash to move on and he obliged.

Nash released a very diplomatic statement thanks the Nets for giving him the opportunity to serve as head coach and said that despite the challenges he found it a pleasure to work with everyone at the Nets.

The Nets are reported to be in talks with Ime Udoka, former head coach of the Boston Celtics. After Nash was terminated, the Nets ended up losing against the Chicago Bulls to go 2-6. Latest odds on Whether Udoka will be the man to bring glory back to the Nets?

NBPA Releases Statement on anti-Semitism

The NBA Players Association (NBPA) has released a statement condemning anti-Semitism but makes no reference to Kyrie Irving which has not gone down well with many fans as they feel Kyrie Irving is getting away with his anti-Semitism hate mongering!
