According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Bucks are sending Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to Miami in exchange for Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, multiple first-round draft picks, a pick swap, and a future second-round pick.

Two of those first-round picks in 2031 and 2033 are unprotected.

The trade closes the book on a 13-year Milwaukee tenure for Antetokounmpo, a tenure that included the franchise’s 2021 NBA championship and multiple MVP seasons.

It also ends months of growing speculation about whether the superstar forward would eventually push for a move away from the Bucks.

Reports had linked several teams to potential interest in Antetokounmpo in recent months, including the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves and the Miami Heat, who ultimately land the star in this deal.

Since winning the title five years ago, the Bucks have won just one postseason series and have been eliminated in the first round in three consecutive seasons from 2023 to 2025. Last season, the team missed the playoffs entirely after finishing 32 and 50, their first losing record in nearly a decade.

Antetokounmpo still delivered elite production when healthy. Despite being limited to 36 games due to calf and knee injuries in the 2025 and 2026 season, he averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists while shooting a career best from the field.

Now 31 years old, Giannis Antetokounmpo leaves Milwaukee as one of the most decorated players of his generation.

Over his career, he has earned two MVP awards, a Defensive Player of the Year title, 10 All-Star selections and an NBA Finals MVP. He has averaged 24.1 points and 9.9 rebounds across 895 regular-season games.

For Miami, the move signals an immediate push back into championship contention. For Milwaukee, it marks the start of a new era built around a major roster overhaul and future draft capital.
