Main Event

Julianna Peña (c) vs. Amanada Nunes

Amanda Nunes defended her bantamweight championship against Julianna Peña in Dec 2021 at UFC 269 and lost. UFC veteran commentator Joe Rogan said this was the biggest upset in UFC history as Nunes went into this fight as the official GOAT of women’s MMA and the betting odds were hugely in her favour.

Peña showed amazing grit before the fight and during the fight as she promised her fans that she would not be intimated or take a step back from Nunes. Peña was willing to stand in the pocket and trade shots with Nunes and in the end, it was Nunes who wilted under the pressure and tapped out to a submission.

Nunes called for an immediate rematch and the UFC granted her the rematch. The former champ has changed her training camp and has been rather vocal in the lead up to this fight. The two fighters have been part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship reality show and Nunes has promised to get belt back at UFC 277.

The US sportsbooks are not that confident though as they have Nunes as the underdog for this fight with odds of 4/11 while the champ Peña is the betting favorite with odds of 11/5. This is going to be an interesting fight because we need to see what changes Nunes has made since her loss.

Nunes ran out of cardio rather quickly in the last fight and her cardio will be tested once again, if Peña can avoid the early onslaught that Nunes tends to bring in the first couple of rounds. Nunes had no answer for Peña’s jab in the last fight and Pena will once again look to use the jab to negate Nunes’s ability to close the distance.

Current odds: Julianna Peña (+220) / Amanada Nunes (-275)

Prediction: Nunes comes into this fight with a lot of pressure riding on her shoulders as she needs to prove to the world that Peña’s win in the last fight was a fluke. We think due to the pressure and submission threat from Peña, Nunes will find it hard to win. Our money will be on Peña to win by submission yet again!

Other Exciting Fights

If you are looking to make a parlay and bet on some of the other exciting fights at UFC 277, then you should look at these three fights. The “Black BeastDerrick Lewis is the favorite with odds of -110 against Russian Sergei Pavlovich who has odds of -110. We are going to back Pavlovich to win this one as his record of 15-1 is hard to argue with.

We also have a great light heavyweight bout on the main card when the impressive Magomed Ankalaev takes on former title contender Anthony “Lionheart” Smith. Ankalaev is the favorite with odds of -500 while Smith is the underdog with odds of +360. We are going with Ankalaev as we believe he has the skills to beat Smith on the feet and on the ground.

The Main Card also features a great fight in the flyweight division as Alexandre Pantoja takes on Alex Perez. The bookmakers have Pantoja as the betting favorite with odds of -165 while Perez is the underdog with odds of +134. If you look at their records, there’s not a lot of difference as Pantoja is at 24-5 while Perez is at 24-6.

We expect this fight to be a three round war that will likely go to a decision as both fighters have good chins. We are going to put our money on Pantoja to win as we think he has the edge as the smarter fighter!

Brandon Moreno vs. Kai Kara-France

Brandon Moreno’s last three fights have all been title fights against current champ Deiveson Figueiredo. The UFC decided to set up an interim fight between Moreno and Kai Kara-France after Figueiredo decided to sit out with a hand injury. The champ isn’t happy to see the UFC put on an interim fight but Moreno and Kai are happy to fight for the interim belt.

Moreno and Kai have already done battle before when they fought at UFC 245 in Dec 2019. Moreno ended up winning that fight by unanimous decision and is one of the reasons why he goes into this fight as the betting favorite with odds of 5/11 while Kai Kara-France is the underdog with odds of 7/4.

These two fighters have shown tremendous improvements in their fight game during the last two and half-years. MMA fans can expect a dog fight as both fighters love to come forward and throw punches. We expect this fight to take place on the feet mostly but we do expect Moreno to throw in a few takedowns and see if he can win points with the judges.

Current odds: Brandon Moreno (-220) / Kai Kara-France (+175)

Prediction: We expect this fight to go to a decision as both fighters have shown in the past that they are hard to finish. Kai will have to come in with a game plan that allows him to outpoint Moreno and not just simply look to stand and bang. We are going to back Moreno to win this fight as we think his experience in title fights gives him that extra edge over Kai Kara-France.
