The online poker giant, PokerStars has announced the launch of its UK sportsbook that will allow poker players to wager on various sports via the poker client.
The sportsbook is available through PokerStars 7 client and also made available on iOS and Android platforms. Currently, players can only wager on the following sports : tennis, basketball, football, rugby union, volleyball, handball, and ice hockey.
David Baazov, the CEO of Amaya commented on the launch of thesportsbook and said,
Our company strives to acquire new customers as well as penetrating into the online gaming industry covering all sectors through the continued expansion of the B2C business in other verticals that include casino, sports betting, daily fantasy sports, and social gaming at which this will also help in the growth of the business.
The addition of a sportsbook has been part of the pipeline and business strategy ever since PokerStars was acquired by Amaya Gaming last year. Previously, the company introduced a casino that is powered by Net Entertainment and this has brought something new to poker players.
