  • Buccaneers and Patriots could compete for Jarvis Landry
  • Carolina Panthers Sign Woods and Corbett
  • Kansas City Chiefs sign Frank Clark for $29 million

The free agency period auctions for the National Football League’s (NFL) 2022 season are in full swing.

Speculations and confirmations are rife about which players might land in different team after signing deals running in millions. Pro-footballers like Xavier Woods and Austin Corbett have signed agreements with the Carolina Panthers. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are eyeing Jarvis Landry despite a tight salary cap. Players like Frank Clark of Kansas City Chiefs are likely to stay with the team.

Bucs Might Compete Against the Patriots for Landry

The Buccaneers are likely to welcome pro footballer Jarvis Landry as a 3rd receiver, now that he has hit the market after being released by the Cleveland Browns. According to a recent tweet by sports journalist Dan Graziano, the Bucs would have a potential interest in bringing Landry on board. Another possible contender to bid for Landry might be the New England Patriots.

The Bucs would benefit from Landry’s talents coupled with other players such as Ryan Jensen, Tom Brady, Aaron Stinnie, and Chris Godwin. However, the Bucs might bow out of the bidding contest to beckon Landry given the team’s tight salary cap situation.

Carolina Panthers Sign On Woods, Corbett

Meanwhile, the Panthers have successfully signed a $15.75 million agreement with free-agent safety Xavier Woods. The 26-year old had been with the Minnesota Vikings and appeared in all the 17 games of the last season. In the last season, the pro-player had lasted for the season’s second-biggest tally of 1,207 snaps. Woods’ deal with the Vikings was a year-long contract.

Free Agent offensive lineman Austin Corbett also closed a three-year deal with the Panthers for $29.25 million. Corbett had finished his last season with a Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade of 69.6. The player had developed into a functional starting guard after the Los Angeles Rams acquired him in 2019.

Frank Clark Signs $29 Million Contract with Chiefs

Defensive end Frank Clark will continue his stint with the Kansas City Chiefs via a restructured two-year contract of $29 million. In Clark’s all three seasons with the Chiefs, he has made the NFL’s all-star game Pro Bowl. He had spent four of his initial seasons with the Seattle Seahawks before being traded to the Chiefs.

The 28-year old was set to garner $26.3 million against the salary cap for 2022 when he entered into the fourth year of his five-year contract with Chiefs, valued at $105.5 million.
