There were many teams eager to sign LeBron James after he decided not to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers after they finished in second place to the Golden State Warriors yet again in the NBA Finals.
The L.A. Lakers always had an edge over the other teams as James had earlier expressed that he felt very comfortable in Los Angles and that his signing with a future franchise would depend heavily on how comfortable his family would be in relocating from Cleveland to a new city.
The Lakers signed James for $145 million on a four year deal as they pinned their hopes on James in changing the fortunes of their franchise.

The Lakers are an iconic franchise that have boasted some of the very best players in the game including Magic Johnson, Shaquille O Neal and Kobe Bryant. The LA Lakers have been dominant in the past winning as many as 16 NBA Championships but there last Championship win came back in 2010.
James is now part of the franchise and is confident that he can turn things around and push the Lakers into winning the NBA Championship. That is going to be a massive feat even for the best player in the NBA as the Lakers had a 35-47 season last year. The Lakers have made changes to their squad for the coming season bringing in the likes of, Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee, Lance Stephenson, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Michael Beasley to assist James.
James has always looked up to Magic Johnson who is the President of the LA Lakers and the man who played a critical role in getting James to sign with the Lakers. The two will work closely on planning the Lakers strategy for the coming season.
Golden State Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers rivalry may not continue now that James has left Cleveland and the team is depleted for talent. The Warriors who are the defending champions will once again enter the new season as the favorites and the Lakers will have to play incredibly well if they are going to pose any sort of challenge to the Warriors.
James has four years with the Lakers to help them win another NBA Championship and he will be hoping that he can do it in his first season with the Lakers.
