One of the hot topics throughout this NBA season revolves around whether Kevin Durant will re-sign with the Golden State Warriors next season or pursue free agency. NBA analysts have tipped the 9 time All Star to most likely make a move to the New York Knicks who are preparing to have a budget that will be big enough to sign Durant.

These rumours once again took center stage as the Golden State Warriors took on the New York Knicks on Tuesday. When Durant was asked a question about a potential move to free-agency, he neither denied it nor confirmed it.

In a statement, Durant said

I have no clue where that stuff comes from. I just focus on playing ball every single day. I can’t control what people say about me or what they say about my future or what I should do. I just try to come to work every single day, and life will figure itself out for me.

While Durant remained non-committal, Kevin McHale who is a member of the NBA Hall of Fame was very confident that Durant will leave the Warriors and join the Knicks. McHale said that the Warriors – who are the current NBA Champions, looked like a dysfunctional team this season and believes that Durant along with another free agent will sign-up with the Knicks.

Some of the other top players who are expected to become free agents at the end of this season include Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Kemba Walker and Jimmy Butler.

Free Agency Will Depend On Durant’s Ambitions

Kevin Durant is a key member of the Golden State Warriors and there’s no secret that the Warriors would like to retain him. Durant received a lot of criticism when he decided to join the Warriors as they were already NBA Champions before Durant signed-up.

NBA fans and analysts criticized his decision to join a winning franchise as they wanted him to join a weaker team, take a leadership role and then challenge the Warriors in the same way that LeBron James did with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The New York Knicks have had a poor season and are in second last place on the Eastern Conference points table. If Durant does decide to purse free agency and join the Knicks, he will have his work cut out in changing the fortunes of the struggling New York Knicks!
