UFC on ESPN 28: Hall vs. Strickland Betting Preview

The UFC Fight Night card which is headlined by Uriah Hall vs. Sean Strickland looked promising when it was announced.

It looks a bit watered down leading into July 31 as three fights from this card had to be pulled due to various reasons.

This Fight Card will take place at the UFC Apex Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Main Event is certainly the most exciting fight on the card with Uriah Hall taking on Sean Strickland in a middle-weight bout. Hall is coming off some impressive wins which include wins over former UFC middleweight champs Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman.

Strickland has won his last four fights with his last win taking place on May 2021 against Krzysztof Jotko. Strickland has looked to get under Hall’s skin in the lead up to the fight with some thrash talk but it does not seem to be making much of an impact on veteran Uriah Hall.

We are going to back Hall to win this fight as Hall looks very determined to get this win and move closer to a title shot.

One of the reasons why this card does not look very appealing is because there are a not a lot of big names on the card. However, hardcore MMA fans will recognize that there are a number of good fights that have the potential to deliver either a fight of the night or performance of the night bonus.

On the prelims, watch out for a featherweight fight between Collin Anglin and Melsik Baghdasaryan. UFC President Dana White highlighted this fight on his popular ‘If you don’t know, now you know’ video.

Bookmakers have Baghdasaryan as the favorite with odds of 1.71 while Anglin is the underdog with odds of 2.15. We are going to back Baghdasaryan to win this one.

The other fight that should be a fan favorite is the opening fight on the Main Card. The resilient Bryan Barberena makes his return to the Octagon after overcoming some serious health issues. Barberena takes on Jason Witt and is a huge betting favorite with odds of 1.36 while Witt has odds of 3.20. We agree with the bookmakers and think Barberena will win.
