Border–Gavaskar Trophy Series 2020-21 Betting Preview

Australia will play hosts to India in a four match test series that is expected to be a closely contested series for the Border–Gavaskar Trophy. The first test starts on December 17 at the Adelaide Oval and will be a day and night test match.

The hosts are the betting favorites with 8/11 odds while India are the underdog with 9/5 odds.

The possibility of a draw is 13/2 which seems highly unlikely are the weather conditions are pretty good in Adelaide.

# No David Warner

David Warner is one of the most experienced players in the Australian test line-up with 84 tests to his name and an average that is close to 49. Warner has the ability to win a game single handedly for Australia as he has the ability to make quick runs.

David Warner will not play the first test as he is still recovering from a groin injury he suffered against India during the ODI series. His absence makes it a lot easier for India to win in Adelaide. Warner is expected to be back for the Boxing Day test in Melbourne which means India must capitalize in Adelaide.

# No Established Openers

David Warner and Joe Burns have been opening the batting for order in the last few tests. Warner is out due to his injury and Burns is not going to open at Adelaide as he has been horribly out of form. His four innings during the tour game against India saw him score less than 10 runs in total.

Australia will have to experiment with two new openers and this is a great chance for India to send the new openers back early and expose the middle-order to the new ball.

# Injury Concerns

Australia wanted to debut their young talented opener Will Pucovski but he suffered a concussion injury in the first tour game against India. Australia was also looking at giving Cameron Green a debut at number six as he has been spectacular in domestic cricket.

However, Green suffered a freak concussion injury in the second tour game and could miss out. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are also recovering from injuries and while they are expected to play the first test, one wonders if they will be at the very best.
