Kevin Durant LaughingSummary

  • Rumours floating around social media claimed Kevin Durant was retiring
  • KD decided to take to social media to squash those rumours immediately
  • KD and Brooklyn Nets continue to battle it out over potential trade off

The biggest news during the NBA off-season has been about Kevin Durant (KD) and the media are not going to leave him alone anytime soon.

KD has been in the news ever since he asked his team the Brooklyn Nets to trade him as he wasn’t interested in staying with the Nets.

The NBA All Star is one of the biggest names in the NBA and very few teams can afford him and meet the requirements that the Nets want for the trade-off. This is one of the reasons why KD is still stuck with the Nets and its causing a lot of frustration for both sides.

Durant Calls Retirement Rumours Comical

This week NBA fans were shocked when rumours broke on social media that KD was fed up with the delay in being traded and decided that he was going to retire from the NBA. The rumour claimed that KD would rather retire from playing basketball than to play for the Nets again.

Hardcore NBA fans did not believe the rumour as KD will turn 34 in September and has atleast another 3 to 4 good years left in him, provided he does not get injured. However, the rumours were strong enough to get a response from Durant.

Durant took to Twitter to clear the air and said that most people prefer to trust unnamed sources and the rumours they share than believing what he had to say directly. Durant said that he has no plans to retire anytime soon and called the retirement rumours comical!

Durant and Nets Continue To Disagree

Durant requested a transfer in June 2022 and is still waiting for the Nets to work out a deal. There are unofficial reports that Durant has informed Nets owner Joe Tsai that he would consider playing for the Nets if they were willing to fire head coach Steve Nash and GM Sean Marks.

While these are unofficial reports, it was good enough for Joe Tsai to get on social media and make it clear that Nash and Marks had his full support. Tsai also sent out a clear message saying that the Brooklyn Nets will do what is best for the team!
