The Warriors had to secure a win in Game 2 of the NBA Championship finals after the Toronto Raptors won Game 1 and put them under pressure.

The defending champions knew that it was going to be a tall feat as they were playing the Raptors in Toronto in front of a sell-out crowd.

However, like true champions they showed both their class and experience as they came back from a 12 point deficit to win 109-104 and tie the series 1-1.

The Raptors took advantage of the home support and got off to a great start as they played well on both defense and offense. The Warriors were clearly feeling the pressure as they ended up missing 24 out of their first 34 shots and the Raptors looked like they were going to secure a 2-0 lead as they kept the Warriors at bay.

House of Highlights

The first half clearly belonged to the Raptors as Kawhi Leonard had a great first half and ended up finishing the night with 34 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists. The Raptors at one stage had a 12 point lead over the Warriors but a poor third quarter saw they throw away that lead and with it a great opportunity to go 2-0 up in the series.

Warriors Show Great Heart Amidst Injuries

The Warriors lost Kevon Looney during the first quarter after he fell and suffered a chest contusion. Klay Thompson had a great night for the Warriors but had to leave during the fourth quarter as he suffered a strained hamstring. Even though they lost two key players, the Warriors showed great heart as Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and DeMarcus Cousins played really well to hold off the Raptors and secure a close win.

Curry finished with 23 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists while Green scored 17 points with 10 rebounds and 9 assists. Cousins who looked a bit sluggish in Game 1 after a 45 day absence, had a much better Game 2 and finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds  and 6 assists.

The game went down to the wire as the fans in Toronto were kept at the edge of their seats, hoping the Raptors could level the score in the final seconds of the game. However, they made a mistake and did not guard the experienced Andre Iguodala who scored a 3 pointer and made sure the Warriors won.

The Warriors will hope that both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson can return for Game 3 which takes place on 5 June at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.
