Summary:
- Jalen Hurts threw four interceptions, including one in overtime while in field-goal range.
- Saquon Barkley delivered a 52-yard touchdown, but the offense struggled most of the night.
- The Chargers capitalized on Eagles mistakes and sealed a 22–19 win with an overtime interception.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense did its job on Monday night, keeping the Los Angeles Chargers in check for most of the football game and putting Philadelphia in position to win. The problem was the offense, which couldn’t finish the job when it mattered most in overtime.
Philadelphia managed only one touchdown in regulation and let multiple chances slip away. After the Chargers opened overtime with a field goal, the Eagles needed a touchdown to win or a field goal to extend the game.
Instead, Jalen Hurts threw his fourth interception of the night while the team was already within range for a tying kick. That mistake sealed a 22–19 loss and another frustrating chapter in a season filled with them.
Saquon Barkley said afterward
We keep continuing to beat ourselves. Not doing the little things right, not focusing on the details. … Last year was last year is what I keep saying. Now we’ve got to move on. We know this one is going to sting. We’ve got a short week.
The Eagles are still very much in the playoff picture, and on paper they have the talent to make a run. However, their offense has fallen into a deep rut, and it’s hard to see a quick fix.
Both teams looked out of rhythm early, with one partcularly messy sequence in the first half summing it up. Hurts threw an interception straight to Da’Shawn Hand, who dropped into coverage and began returning it before being stripped.
Hurts recovered that fumble, only to lose the ball again, and the Chargers landed on it. In the span of a few seconds, there were three turnovers, two by Hurts. He never really settled in, finishing with five turnovers and a 31.3 passer rating.
I didn’t play well enough. Too many turnovers

Los Angeles wasn’t sharp either. The Chargers got an early touchdown from rookie Omarion Hampton, who was back from an ankle injury, but their offense slowed from there. Justin Herbert, playing one week after surgery on his non-throwing hand, dealt with constant pressure.
Hampton’s early score held up until the fourth quarter, when the Eagles finally created a spark. On a third-and-one, Philadelphia lined up for its usual short-yardage push, then sprung a pitch to Barkley, who raced 52 yards for a touchdown. It was the kind of creativity the offense has been missing.
From there, the teams traded field goals, including one by the Chargers with eight seconds left. In overtime, Philadelphia got a second chance after a big conversion to DeVonta Smith and an offsides penalty, but the drive ended when Hurts’ pass was tipped and intercepted.
It was a tough finish, but for the Eagles, the bigger issue is how familiar it all felt. Can the Eagles recover against the Raiders – get the best US NFL odds with selected sportsbooks
